Friday was filled with abundant games of the Hunt. We had 16 players to start and kept up good numbers the whole night. We are not playing this week because residents are being sent home.

    Table 1
    Game 1 8-Man The Hunt
    Players
Andrew, Cayla, Hudson, Korvin, Gollum, Lisa, Ben, Erik
    Winner
    Erik running Poor Man's Combo

    Game 2 8-Man The Hunt
    Players
Korvin, Andrew, Ben, Cayla, Hudson, Gollum, Lisa, Erik
    Winner
Gollum running Tooth and Nail (Erik's deck)

    Game 3 6-Man The Hunt
    Players
Korvin, Andrw, Cayla, Hudson, Lisa, Erik
    Winner
    Korvin running Mono White Cats

    Table 2
    Game 1 8-Man The Hunt
    Players
Eric, Sam, Burns, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Evan, Larry, Katie
    Winner
    Evan running Wolf's Rain

The table played some duels after this.

After this we re-rolled tables to mix up the games. We also started to go to old fall backs of Chaos and FFA. These games were pretty fast overall.

    Table 1
Game 1 7-Man Free For All
    Players
Andrew, Evan, Kaitlyn, Hudson, Laura, Larry, Erik
    Winner
    Erik running WUBby

    Table 2
    Game1 7-Man Free For All
    Players
Eric, Sam, Korvin, Jacob, Lisa, Ben, Cayla
    Winner
    Lisa running Treefolk (Erik's deck)

We re-rolled for tables again to break up groups. It didn't work too well.

    Table 1Game 1 6-Man Chaos
    Players
Korvin, Ben, Laura, Evan, Jacob, Erik
    Winner
    Erik running URzatron

Table 2Game 1 6-Man Something Like Chaos But It Needs Charts
    Players
Hudson, Sam, Larry, Eric, Cayla, Katilyn
    Winner
Hudson running his Jenara EDh deck shuffled up

Alright, minions, listen up!

This Friday: We are playing 60 card Free For All Magic. Possibly Chaos, the Hunt, or Secret Alliance. The choice will fall to the individual tables.

April 8th: Emperor Magic

April 15th: Emperor Magic

Emperor Magic is a team game with three person teams. The teams sit in a row like this:
1B General-A Emperor-1A General
2A General-B Emperor-2B General

The two side people (generals, leiutenents, flanks, knights, etc.) are not required to be alive for the games to end. Instead only when an emperor is removed does a single team lose. Players can be eliminated as normal.

The game has a spell range of 2 meaning that you affect yourself and up to two seats away. So 2B General can affect himself, 2B General, B Emperor, 1A General, and A Emperor. This works for any effect. Targets must be in this area and global effects (like Wrath of God) only affect those in the area. When someone dies the circle collapses and eveyone is able to target anyone else.

We will be working on a way to make teams for the Emperor weeks in April.

This week Secret Alliance! Maybe some other team oriented stuff. We want people getting the feel of a team game so bring a more team neutral deck. Also, start making team neutral or team friendly decks.

We did not have enough people for Secret Alliance. Instead we had games of The Hunt and Star. It was a good night. Next week we have people going to Tekko, I have a conference to attend, and it is supposed ot be EDH night. I don't think that much Magic will be played.

April 8th we are playing Emperor. We need to know who is going to attend so that we can make teams. The teams will be three person teams and we hope to make them fairly balanced. It looks like we will have emperor's chosen at random and they can pick their teams. The last emperor to pick teammate 1 will be the first to choose teammate 2.

Now who will play in the emperor format? We need to get a list of people so we can start making the teams. We hope that the teams will work together so that the decks can compliment each other.

Here are some links to help:
Emperor Advice
Lieutenants Advice
Newer Advice

Also common strategy is to have a Sword and Shield typoe decks for the emperor. The left deck (who goes after the emperor) is typically more aggressive and uses the Emperor to help support. The deck on the right is more defensive, not a wall deck, but one capable of slowing down the enemy offensive.

Also note, we are not encouraging combo decks here, the format can abuse them. but now you made 5 other people, 2 of which are on your side, very bored.

Okay, due to complete lack of participation we are not playing emperor this week.

I'll let everyone know what we are playing on Friday unless anyone pop in here and asks. Is it really that hard to check this? It even emails you when you somene replies.

Also: let me know what decks you guys want to bring. I won't be bringing a lot of decks so make a request now. I'll check this around 2 on Friday and then after that good luck with a deck.

Great games last night. We had 9 people show, which is low. Next week- bring a friend! We'll be in Spart's again next week. I have the new student days on the 16th so I won't be up till 2 playing.

Congrats to Eric who won 4 games last night and to Corvin who did really well and won 2 I think. For those of you who are new and fearful, I let up and played many weaker decks last week. You never know what everyone is running.

Also- everyone needs to ease up on the damn black and red decks. Every freaking card is a removal spell or a burn spell. Play blue or white or green people!

We only had 8-10 people on Friday. Everyone needs to bring a friend!

I have no recollection of winners, I think Hudson won a game with goblins. I am pretty sure I won a game with WUBby. One of those games was Chaos, the other I think was straight FFA. I could be completely wrong. The other table had a crazy EDH game that needed a level 3 judge to work out everything. I think they got in 3 games.

We will most likely be playing Secret Alliance or Grand Melee this week.

On May 6th we will be playing EDH for our final game night of the 2010-2011 year.

Okay, this Friday is our last night of 60 card magic for the semester. If you bring a friend you are a hero. We will most likely be playing Chaos or Secret Alliance with Grand Melee and FFA on stand by based on numbers and opinion.

Friday is going to be EDH. Bring the pain!

I'll be bringing all of my EDH decks:
Oros, the Avenger
Vorosh, the Hunter
Savra, Queen of the Golgari
Borborygmos
Godo, Bandit Lord
Pheldgagriff (will not have top loaders this Friday)
Isperia the Inscrutable

Call out a deck so we don't stack them.

Anyone working on new decks? I want to make another 60 card and at least one more edh this summer.

I may make a Konda or Rhys the Redeemed deck. Those will be fun.
With the new EDH stuff coming out this June I may just buy all 5 and be done with it... decisions.

Anyone got an idea for a good 60 card deck? I want to make another 'Tron deck, but not sure what.

The EDH/Commander decks are out. Each one has 3 legendary enemy color wedge creatures. A reprinted Planar Chaos Dragon and 2 new legends. There is also a cycle of enemy colored generals. The decks also have some awesome stuff like each one having Sol Ring and Lightning Greaves.

Check out the decks, I really think this is a good product. Almost all the generals have goo "build around me" abilities without being as degenerate as Savra or Azami.

I made two new 60 card decks and one EDH deck. I am working on a second EDH deck and possibly another 60 card deck. Also working on my campaign for the semester.
